Luminaria – McDowell County Relay for Life 2010

McDowell County, NC residents celebrated life and birthdays in their Relay for Life Event. Luminarias symbolize the Light of hope and courage for those who fight cancer.

What is Relay for Life? A worldwide movement to create a world with more birthdays by declaring the American Cancer Society the official sponsor of your birthday. Emphasis is on saving lives, creating more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, finding cures and fighting back.

The Tom Johnson Camping Center of Marion hosted the May 2010 McDowell County American Cancer Society event.

I attended Relay for Life Rally to fight cancer, and joined the hundreds who showed up in the fight and to wish Happy Birthday to the survivors and their loved ones.

The community members and the Rally was an inspiration to me; I hope you find McDowell County’s Relay for Life as touching and heartfelt as I did. I tried to capture the essence of what hope and courage was expressed, in the above video that I created.

Every moment is precious. Don't forget to tell someone very dear to you that you love them.

Simply say, "I Love You." "I care for you." "You mean something to me." "You're a blessing; you've done so much." "You've been good to me." "I appreciate you." "Thank you for all that you do; it is noticed by me."

Linus - A Mischievous Westie Dog

A pet is a gift from God to be a blessing in your life. They bring you happiness, laughter, love, affection, loyalty, genuineness, healing, therapy, innocence, and a sense of what "home" is all about.

We've had many beloved guinea pigs, but we were introduced to Lulu, a Westie, when my daughter relocated back to North Carolina. Lulu was used to the city--Manhattan.

Living in North Carolina, you really don't see dog parks in abundance. But, there is the countryside. You have your pluses and minuses. So, Lulu needed a playmate, since she lost all social dog interaction. Hence, Linus came into the picture.



You probably ask, what does this have to do with your Business? Well, in a way, not a whole lot. But, if it means anything, the dogs keep things in perspective for me too.

I would be working around the clock if it weren't for them. It's easy to just keep working on the internet--you know how addicting it can be.

When they have had enough of my working, they are there to let me know they want to play or go outside. It's pretty funny to watch them in the little dog pool, or swim down by the creek.

Yes, pets are an extremely wonderful gift, to make you stop what you are doing, and ENJOY LIFE!
